Because I Love America, This Year I’m Voting For The ‘Checks And Balances’ That The Founding Fathers Put In Place To Prevent A Concentration Of Power

Our Founding Fathers Gave America ‘Checks And Balances’, And This November I Want A Congress Willing To Use Them To Hold Donald Trump and MAGA Accountable

The Republican Party needs to understand something: my vote has to be earned. I am not voting in this year’s Midterm elections because Republicans have performed so poorly that rewarding them with another victory would excuse the very behavior they should be answering for. Donald Trump told supporters, “I’m asking you to pretend that I’m on the ballot.” Very well, Mr. President. I have considered your performance, and you have not earned my support. Making this election about yourself means accepting that Americans can look directly at your record and decide your MAGA Party deserves to lose.

“When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.” Proverbs 29:2 (KJB)

Let’s start with the war in Iran, shall we? In March, Trump declared, “In the first hour it was over.” Months later, he was still talking about winning it “very soon.” Nearly 50 times the Commander-in-Chief declared the war to be “won” or “over”, and none of it was true. How many times can a president announce victory while the conflict remains unresolved before Americans demand an honest accounting? I am tired of being sold a triumphant ending while watching the brutal consequences continue to unfold. Those contradictions have destroyed my confidence in just about anything he has to say. His word has become meaningless. A president asking for my support owes me the truth about the war he is directing, the risks Americans face, and what achieving his objectives will actually require.

The dishonesty about prices is just as insulting. Earlier this month, Trump described prices as “coming down rapidly” and “way down.” The September inflation report tells a different story: consumer prices rose 3.7% over the past year, gasoline prices rose 34.2%, and the gasoline index jumped 9.1% in September alone. Then he rubs our noses in it with the administration’s endless promotion of a “Golden Age” that only he and his billionaire friends and family seem to be enjoying. We and the majority of people we know are struggling to pay bills while the president treats us with callous indifference. Calling the economy ‘amazing’ does nothing to lower the number on the gas pump. Insisting that people celebrate while their purchasing power gets squeezed shows rank contempt for the very Americans whose votes he expects to receive. I refuse to applaud a sales pitch that asks me to disregard the evidence that’s right in front of my face.

The Founding Fathers understood the danger of concentrated power. They divided federal authority among three branches and established checks and balances so that each could restrain the others. Congress has a constitutional responsibility to question the president, scrutinize his claims, and challenge his overreach. Republican representatives owe that duty to the country every day a Republican occupies the White House. Their willingness to excuse his conduct is part of why they have lost my support. This November, I am withholding my vote because I will not reward that failure. I want independent oversight, meaningful limits on presidential power, and consequences for leaders who believe our loyalty is guaranteed. As an American patriot, you should want that as well. I’m the son of a WWII vet, and a life-long member of the Republican Party, the party of Lincoln, not the MAGA Party. I want what’s good for America, not just the interests of a select few. I want my party back.

When people write in and say how much they would like gospel tracts but cannot afford them, we send them a box at no cost to them for either the tracts or the shipping, no matter where they are in the world. We have a Gospel Billboard program. We are now broadcasting Bible studies, Podcasts and a Sunday Service 5 times a week, thanks to your generous donations.
