Since God is in control and determines ALL that happens here on Earth and in the universe, we shouldn’t be surprised that he is increasingly shaking the world right now. In his great mercy, he is doing it only incrementally to wake people up from their deep spiritual slumber. After all, how are we any better than the people who lived in Noah’s time or even better than the Sodomites who were destroyed by flaming sulfur falling from the sky? If he didn’t do something to wake us up to validate his existence and holy demands, then he would have to apologize to the people who perished during those days of damning judgment.
As terrific rainstorms pummel the earth, one verse of scripture comes to mind: “As it was in the days of Noah, so shall the coming of the Son of man be” (Matthew 24:37).
Another thing I noticed as I reread the Old Testament for the umpteenth time was that the patriarchs weren’t as holy as presumed. They were just like us – liars, backstabbers, connivers, and absorbed with sex. They made babies like there was no tomorrow. There were only two men who were righteous: one was Enoch, and the other was Elijah. All the rest were just common men like us. Even the highly exalted Moses was a murderer – as was David. Yet God saw fit to use them both—for his glory—because they worshiped God in spirit and in truth.
God knows most of us humans are incapable of living godly and blameless lives (including me). That’s why Jesus came—to take away our sins by dying on the cross.
Today we have naked sodomites parading in the streets of America and flaunting their “gay rights” as well as teaching in our public schools that such lewd behavior is acceptable. These very same people (if you can call them that) are acting like animals even under the rainbow flag as if the rainbow absolves them of their vile misdeeds. They have been invited to teach and preach their sordid way of life even in our so-called Christian churches! Our children and young people don’t stand a chance of living a normal life anymore, and some are even daring to commit suicide while we elders look the other way.
As if that weren’t enough, even our churches are being bought and remade into mosques all over America, while Christians in Africa are being slaughtered by the hundreds, if not thousands. I’m afraid that if God tarries, we in America will come under persecution too. World unrest is at an all-time high with Satan making his one last attempt to destroy mankind. What a world we live in today!
Last night I watched an episode of Dateline on television, and the story was about a young lady who had learned to fly. Long story short, she crashed in the middle of nowhere in a box canyon surrounded by endless high mountains. Although her little Cessna crashed upside down, she survived. But alas, she had no survival gear and no way to communicate, so she began following a creek at the bottom of the valley, hoping to find a road or anything to help her survive.
After leaving a message to her parents on her cell phone, she feared she would soon die without water or food. It was a pitiful message, with her crying. Still, she trudged on. (My guess is that she was praying, “God, help me—please help me.”) I mean, who doesn’t cry out to God when there is no other recourse? She was finally saved by a man who was hunting sheep and spotted the crash as it was happening through the binoculars he was using to spot sheep – miles from civilization. Miracles still happen today, and God seldom gets the credit.
In the interview by the jaded and self-absorbed reporter, she never once gives God credit – not once! That’s how jaded we Americans have all become.
Miracles is the title of my movie, which is well underway and looking good. God willing, I should have it completed by the end of the year – if we’re still here. It details many, but not all, of the miracles I experienced in my forty-five-year ministry, in which I experienced miracle after miracle as I leaned on our gracious and exalted heavenly Father – who provided for me in my time of need and consoled me in my darkest hours.
While we human beings are resourceful, clever, and resilient, the weight of the world can be too much to bear. We have a tendency to despair when things don’t go our way – and only then do we cry out to Almighty God. However, most of us don’t even thank him for our food at mealtimes, nor for anything else, for that matter.
Admittedly, though, there were times when I thought I was going under, but as he did with Peter, Jesus grabbed me by the hand and saved the day. I’ve come to the conclusion that this was the right way to go. So today I speak my concerns to God or Jesus, and I’ve quit fretting about every little thing that besets me.
Book report:
At this juncture, I will go back to reading History of the Jews (a 600-page book). Any other reading has become just rehashed drivel, again and again, and does nothing to prepare us for the hereafter. All is manmade thought and philosophy. Although I love reading and have learned many things, the writings of other men have not enlightened me like the Bible has.
It seems to me that I know all I want to know about life – after all, I’ve lived life to the full and know mankind to the core through spiritual discernment gleaned from the Bible through the Holy Spirit.
Maybe I’ll read a little more – but to what avail? I’ve lived two lifetimes and seen it ALL.
