Hurricane warnings covered portions of both coasts of Baja California Sur Sept 27 as Hurricane Polo moved north-northwest toward the peninsula. At 02:00 MST (09:00 UTC) the Cat 3 had maximum sustained winds of 195 km/h (120 mph), forecast to approach the western coast Monday, cross the peninsula at night, & approach northwestern mainland Mexico early Tuesday.

Book Award Winner Complains About White Paint Because of Its “Purity” and “Cleanliness”
In yet another of the year’s intellectually embarrassing events, a book called A Dead White: An Argument Against White Paint has won a National Book Award for nonfiction. “White paint,” argues authoress and Columbia University Professor Wendy Walters, is too pure and too clean. And that, of course, means it is racist and white supremacist.
