The Coming Religion Of Unity: Trump Says America Must Bring Religion Back As Paula White Helps Gather Competing Church Traditions Under One Roof
There is a remarkable phrase President Donald Trump has repeated again and again throughout his second administration: “We’re bringing religion back.” He said it at the National Prayer Breakfast. He said it at Easter. He said it on the National Day of Prayer. He said it before the White House Faith Office. He said it in Iowa. He said it again in 2026. This isn’t some stray remark, it has become a recurring theme of his presidency. That’s exactly what High Priestess Paula White is there to do, bring in the demonic One World Religion of the end times.
“For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.” Acts 17:23 (KJB)
Donald Trump did not say he was bringing back the preaching of the gospel of the grace of God. He did not say America was returning to the authority of the Bible. He repeatedly chose the much broader word ‘religion’. And at his July 14, 2025 White House Faith Office luncheon, he removed any ambiguity about the breadth of that term when he said this was “not just evangelicals or Protestants… all religions.” Paula White-Cain was there as Senior Advisor to the White House Faith Office.
That is an enormously important theological distinction, because religion is not synonymous with biblical Christianity. Islam is a religion. Hinduism is a religion. Buddhism is a religion. Roman Catholicism is a religion. Mormonism is a religion. Countless systems contain prayers, clergy, ceremonies, temples, traditions, sacred writings and professions of faith. None of those outward characteristics establishes that a religion is preaching the gospel Paul received from Jesus Christ. Indeed, Paul encountered an intensely religious culture at Athens and told them that their devotion had been directed toward a God they did not know. Talk about a mic drop! Does anyone in Trump’s White House know the True God? That would be an excellent question to ask them.
At the Oval Office on Wednesday, Paula White stood amid representatives of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Armenian Catholic Church and Armenian Evangelical tradition while the administration speaks openly about bringing religion back. This is what she posted to Facebook yesterday after the meeting:
What a powerful and meaningful moment at the White House today! ![]()
It was an honor to welcome the Armenian Ambassador Mkrtchyan and distinguished Archbishops and Bishops representing the Armenian Apostolic Church, the Armenian Catholic Eparchy, and the Armenian Evangelical Union
Together, we met with President Donald J. Trump in the Oval Office and joined in prayer over him, our nation, and the people of Armenia.
The danger here, theologically speaking, is not religious liberty. That’s guaranteed by our Constitution. But Christians need to understand the difference between the government’s responsibility to protect everyone’s freedom of conscience and the Church’s responsibility to contend for doctrinal truth. Those are not the same assignment. Government may constitutionally protect Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism and other faiths alike. But a Bible believer cannot therefore conclude that all those religions lead to the same God because they don’t.
Jesus Christ did not say He was one religious road among many:
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6 (KJB)
Peter did not preach religious pluralism as a means of salvation:
“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Acts 4:12 (KJB)
And Paul warned that the counterfeit would become frighteningly close to the real thing—another Jesus, another spirit and another gospel.
That is why Trump’s phrase “bring religion back” deserves much scrutiny. Not because protecting religious freedom is itself suspicious, but because religion can unite people whom biblical doctrine necessarily divides. Religious language can produce enormous unity without producing one ounce of saving faith in Jesus Christ. People can pray together, talk about God together, invoke Christian vocabulary together and still believe fundamentally incompatible things about who Jesus Christ is, what happened at Calvary, what constitutes the gospel, and how a sinner is justified before God. The end times religious system does not require the world to abandon religion, it requires religion to become broad enough to gather the world together. In that theological reading, the fascinating word is not Christianity. It is RELIGION. Because when everybody can belong, everybody can pray, everybody can invoke God and nobody has to contend over which God, which Christ and which gospel, you have not witnessed a revival of biblical Christianity. You have witnessed the long-prophesied One World Religion of the end times.
