We live in a post-truth world. It was not this way a decade or so ago, but it sure is now.
Pick your poison: politics, religion, sexuality, the family structure, history, climate change, crime, illegal immigration, or the left’s patently ridiculous and obsessive fallacy that men can become pregnant. Pick whatever issue you want – it makes no difference.
Whichever issue(s) you choose, you will discover mounting numbers of people no longer want the truth.
Oh, they KNOW the facts are the facts, but they totally reject them anyways. Nothing will change their mind. They’ve already made their choice, and the facts didn’t ‘factor’ in.
It’s fruitless to point to articles, statistics, research, testimony, or whatever evidence underscores the proof. You’d be wasting your time imagining the truth matters with these folks. They have chosen intellectual dishonesty instead.
Post-truthers don’t care one bit about the way things REALLY are. If the truth conflicts with their choices, if it’s something that goes against the way they want to see things or the values they want to hold, then they’ll refuse to accept it.
Case closed. The concrete’s hard.
It’s why this bunch is always a very short fuse away from exploding with rage. Their God-given consciences are always reminding them they are wrong. Post-truthers are fundamentally AT WAR WITH REALITY.
This incredulous posture is a display of willful ignorance that defies comprehension. Rejecting the truth when the facts are clear ranks as an obvious symptom of mental disorder. It’s a case of extreme personal dysfunction and instability.
But keep in mind, this dynamic has all been carefully crafted. Our media ‘faithfully’ does its part to encourage this senseless situation. Our media today is not about ‘informing’ the population – it’s all about ‘influencing’ it. It’s a propaganda machine that feeds the willfully ignorant and insane.
It’s why we now find ourselves living in a world that provides only the smallest tincture of truth. If you got a polio vaccine (back when ‘vaccines’ were legit), you received a tiny bit of the disease. It prevented you from getting the full-blown condition.
Truth is just like that. If you choose to only accept the littlest bit of truth, it ‘vaccinates’ you – it PREVENTS you – from accepting all of it. You cannot embrace or comprehend the big picture anymore. You are now ‘resistant’ to the full impact of truth.
This has all been an effective strategy. It results in people wearing their masks while they’re driving alone in their cars. It results in folks fiercely arguing that men should compete in women’s sports. It has made ‘loonies’ scream that we should not have voter ID – but we should still check someone’s ID if they order a drink or tour a presidential library. Naturally, none of this makes the least bit of sense.
The danger of all this is partial truth achieves the intentions of a total lie. Partial truth is the same as full deception.
But the bottom line remains that truth ‘is what it is’ and it must be faced. No matter how much it is attacked, the truth remains the truth. Truth doesn’t change, and it doesn’t go away. Facts are plain.
This is TERRIBLY inconvenient for many willfully deluded people.
For those who are affronted in some way by the truth, predictable responses arise. When it is opportunistic to overlook it, the truth is omitted. When truth cannot be avoided, it is misrepresented. When truth conflicts with one’s personal agenda, it is attacked.
Ultimately, if these sorts of treatments do not suffice, the messenger of truth – whomever or whatever that may be – is discredited, maligned, and excoriated. They may even be eliminated! Post-truthers will resort to violence to avoid an honest mirror.
It’s imperative to understand, “Truth is uncomfortable.” That’s because truth clarifies things; it exposes who we are and what we most want to believe about ourselves. Truth has a way of dividing, and so when truth is made clear, we are forced to make a decision.
Do we agree with the truth, or do we disagree with it? Whether we choose to agree or disagree does not change the truth itself. But our choices in response to truth say an awful lot about us.
I regret to say I don’t see this present dilemma improving – – not here in America anyway, and certainly not in the EU, which is nearly comprehensively a lost cause on these matters. Canada and Australia are not far behind. The numbers of ‘post-truthers’ are swelling every day, and their pursuit of wisdom and discernment is going down at the same rate.
According to Romans 1:28, the minds of this bunch no longer function anymore as they were intended to. God has given their minds over to depravity. That’s why this crowd has now reached a point where they are celebrating their corruption.
The conclusion of all this will be messy….to say the least. I know I speak for many when I say, “I’ve had enough.”
God will reach the same point. Being that He is a God of great grace and mercy, we’ve seen His patience demonstrated time and again. But it won’t last.
A prescribed time is coming when God’s patience will reach an end point. He’ll have had enough.
It’s then that His wrath and judgment will be executed upon a population that has refused to accept the facts. They will have condemned themselves because they rejected the truth of God’s eternal power and divine nature that is self-evident all around us.
Remarkably, most of the world at that time will understand God’s judgments and why they are happening. The Bible is clear. Humanity’s choices will be exposed for being wrong.
But just as things are now, the truth THEN won’t make any difference to them.
Revelation 16:9 tells us the future looks a lot like today. Folks won’t change. They won’t turn away from their depraved behaviors. Unbelievably, they’ll choose to curse God for the consequences of their own personal choices. It’s not hard to understand since all their problems started with a rejection of God in the first place.
They will end up being condemned and tormented for eternity. That’s a long time for someone to consider how they could have made better decisions while they still had the chance.
The Bible presents the straightforward message that refusal to accept truth places one’s soul at risk (James 5:20). For many, this journey of folly starts simply enough – like wanting tampon dispensers in boys’ bathrooms.
But left unchecked, this pattern of deliberate foolishness ultimately demands one pay the highest price.
