Floods leave at least 24 dead across western Yemen as rainfall continues
Flooding triggered by sustained heavy rainfall since late March 2026 has left at least 24 people dead across western Yemen, with the most affected districts located in Ta’iz and Al-Hodeidah governorates. At least 7,900 households have been affected along the Red Sea coast, and additional rainfall forecast over the next 48 hours raises the risk of further impacts.

US, UK, discuss need to reopen Strait of Hormuz
The US’ and UK’s chief diplomats held a phone call to discuss the need to restore freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, during a Wednesday meeting, the US State Department said. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper met on the sidelines of King Charles III’s visit to Washington.

Iranian naval blockade stays until Iran agrees to nuclear deal 
US President Trump said Iran will remain under a naval blockade until it agrees to a deal that addresses US concerns about its nuclear program. The blockade is “somewhat more effective than bombing,” Trump said. “They are choking like a stuffed pig. And it is going to be worse for them. They can’t have a nuclear weapon,” he added.
