Of the 5 candidates, 3 are in openly same-sex relationships, and all are aligned with gender-affirming theology. Future leadership of the synod is drawn from a pool that already reflects a decisive shift from traditional biblical doctrine on sexuality and identity.

The attack came after a 10-day ceasefire went into effect at midnight Thursday between Israel and Hezbollah.

He appeared to confirm ceasefire talks with Iran are very up in the air, saying he doesn’t see the need to extend the two-week ceasefire – “not sure,” he said – also amid the ongoing US naval blockade of Iranian-China oil exports, or other sanctioned vessels. With no extension, the ceasefire expires April 22. “If there’s no deal, fighting resumes,” Trump affirmed.
