Severe weather across Afghanistan caused widespread flooding and landslides; at least 77 people died and 137 were injured over a 10-day period ending April 4. Thousands of homes were damaged, and key transport routes were washed away. Heavy rains also caused 44 fatalities in neighboring Pakistan in recent weeks.

All 3 protagonists in this war risk emerging as losers. Without a clear regime change in Iran, Trump and Netanyahu couldn’t justify the cost of this war. Several times, Trump threatened to bomb Iran back into the Stone Age. He came close but may have realized that even in the Stone Age, people can fight back with stones. The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry.
