The Coming Famine of Truth :: By Dave Hubley

The Coming Famine of Truth :: By Dave Hubley

I have included a special message at the end of this article for those who have reached that point where the burden of evidence that the world is spinning out of control is overwhelming. I hope you will read and take to heart what God requires in order to give His free gift of eternal life, as He has declared is His will for all who trust in Him.

“The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance(2 Peter 3:9). Emphasis added.

The Word of God, the Scriptures, or as more commonly understood in its final form, the Bible, is God’s revelation of Himself, His Divine Nature, His laws, Ordinances and Truth.

It is presented in many cases in a form that is akin to a story but that always conveys His Nature and Sovereignty so as to serve as a means of expressing His will toward mankind and His requirements and standards of conduct.

It was revealed through the Jews. They were His chosen people, charged with bringing these revelations of God to the world. Other than His promises directly related to them regarding their homeland and preservation as a nation, His Word is universal and applies to all kindred, tribes and nations. The New Testament as well was primarily written by Jewish authors under the direction of the Holy Spirit.

“I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you(Genesis 12:3). Emphasis added.

“It is too small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel I have kept. I will also make you a light for the Gentiles, that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth” (Isaiah 49:6). Emphasis added.

Deception, the long-standing enemy of truth and tactic of Satan, is running rampant today. It has become the default tactic in almost every sphere of human conduct: politics, media, weblogs, websites, and even ordinary public and private discourse.

It is a primary ingredient of what has led to the delusions that so many people display today when you try to engage in rational conversation about those things they don’t want to acknowledge the existence of, and that includes the One True God, His Word, and anything that is related to Him.

I believe that the plague of what has become “normal, everyday deception” is only a type of what will eventuate in a specific judgment that God will execute that is contained in the verse below, taken from His Word.

“The coming of the lawless one will be accompanied by the working of Satan, with every kind of power, sign, and false wonder, and with every wicked deception directed against those who are perishing, because they refused the love of the truth that would have saved them. For this reason God will send them a powerful delusion so that they believe the lie, in order that judgment may come upon all who have disbelieved the truth and delighted in wickedness” (2 Thessalonians 2:9-12). Emphasis added.

This judgment is specifically addressed to those who have willfully chosen to disbelieve the truth and delight in wickedness.

I believe there are a great many unbelieving people who possess a strong moral sense and do not appreciate being lied to, and do not delight in wickedness. But they lack the indwelling Holy Spirit that is promised to every person who believes in God and believes His Word as well, that repents of their sin and rebellion, and receives Jesus as their only Lord and Savior, and are thus blessed with the Wisdom and Discernment that is part of the Promise of God.

However, when the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all truth, for He will not speak on His own, but He will speak what He hears [from God the Father], and He will declare to you what is to come” (John 16:13). Emphasis added. [Inserted by me for clarity.]

Those who lack this spiritual discernment are at significant risk of believing the subtle lies and deceptions of this world, which are promulgated by the father of lies as described by Jesus.

“When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it” (John 8:44).

After the True Church is removed from the earth as prophesied in (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17), the “man of lawlessness (the antichrist)” will be revealed to a world of unbelievers that is in utter chaos and who will be desperately seeking a solution. This chaos will be the manifestation of what is rapidly building across the world today but is not seen or understood by those who never open a Bible and read of these very things prophesied to be coming on the world for thousands of years.

“And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming. The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved” (2 Thessalonians 2:8-10). Emphasis added.

There will be no shortage of evil and deception in the world of men when God allows those who reject His Word to get their wish – a world without Him.

“But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived” (2 Timothy 3:13).

Having made this connection between these ancient prophecies and their ongoing fulfillment, I wish to point out another Truth revealed in God’s Word that is going to become a sobering and terrifying reality once this lawless man is revealed and then embraced and received by the world instead of the Way, the Truth, and the Life that is Jesus Christ, the True Savior.

The Bible, so readily available today and which contains the answers to understanding the building reality of a rebellious world prophesied to steadily become worse and worse, will likely be banned, confiscated, and destroyed by the man of lawlessness when he assumes absolute power over the world that will be permitted by God.

At the midpoint of the 7-year Tribulation, Antichrist will declare himself to be God. He will not tolerate any contrary view of him, no matter what the source. He will use economic means as a primary weapon against those who have believed the lie.

“and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name” (Revelation 13:17). Emphasis added.

This total control will also include removal of websites like Rapture Ready, Harbingers Daily, and the many others that stand by the empirical Truth of the Word of God. There will be no openly available preachers or orators of the Gospel.

Anyone who believes in him and accepts this mark will be eternally condemned with no hope of salvation.

“And the smoke of their torment rises forever and ever. Day and night there is no rest for those who worship the beast and its image, or for anyone who receives the mark of its name” (Revelation 14:11).

God has provided man with this prophecy for 2,000 +/- years. It has been available to anyone who would seek the Truth of His Word. Additionally, over 800 +/- years prior to that, this warning was given:

“Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord GOD, when I will send a famine on the land—not a famine of bread or a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the words of the LORD. People will stagger from sea to sea and roam from north to east, seeking the word of the LORD, but they will not find it” (Amos 8:11-12). Emphasis added.

What will they be seeking? They will be seeking answers that have been ignored, mocked and ridiculed for generations. Those answers have already been provided and have been readily available in His written revelation of Himself for generations.

I believe this prophecy awaits its final fulfillment in the near future. As far as I know, there has never been a complete worldwide lack of God’s Word, and people have never travelled the entire world seeking it out of desperation. Ancient scrolls and parchments have been available since they were written, and God preserved them even during the time of the Dark Ages.

At the present time, God’s Word is also available nearly everywhere with the advent of the internet (Bible Hub, E-sword, etc.); anyone can access His Truth…if they truly desire to.

The only source of Truth that has ever existed in printed form is contained in God’s written Word. Contemporary writers and preachers must strictly adhere to it if they are to be considered trustworthy.

All of that will likely cease to be when the famine begins.

Many of those who elect to ignore all the signs that are prevalent in every aspect of existence today, who hide their heads and try to convince themselves that “everything will be alright,” or “things will get back to normal,” will be the most likely to be deceived.

The Bible is its own best interpreter, and the Holy Spirit is the authenticator of that Truth, so please do not accept my word for these things. Instead, if you are in earnest, ask God to reveal His Truth to you and search the Scriptures based on His promise to you:

“And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13).

Though I don’t know you, I’m praying that you will heed the words of Jesus:

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me” (Revelation 3:20).

If you choose to respond to His plea, you must do so in your living years.

The special message I promised you:

For anyone who may read this article and has not trusted in Jesus Christ and therefore has no hope or peace in your life.

You can have hope. You can have the peace that Jesus has promised to all who have made Him their Lord and Savior. The peace that passes understanding.

It requires that you come before God on His terms and that you do so in your living years.

And, what are His terms according to His Word?

  • Genuine repentance (turning to God instead of continuing to reject or ignore Him).
  • Confession of sins (that you are a sinner and acknowledge that to God).
  • That you understand that the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23).
  • To acknowledge to God that you are unable to pay that debt.
  • Belief that Jesus Christ paid your death sentence for you on the cross and rose from the grave three days later, conquering death, just as He promised.
  • To believe that Jesus is the Way, the only Way, that God has established by which humans may be saved from the consequences of their sin and rebellion.

God has made it absolutely clear that there is no one who comes before Him, under His terms, that will be refused.

  • No one: no race, no color, no country of origin, regardless of any previous belief system: no one.
  • No matter what your past sins have been, God can and WILL forgive you because He says He will.
  • Salvation is available to everyone without any exceptions.

If you put all your trust for salvation in Jesus, and Him only, you can follow that prayer up by simply saying, “Thank you, Father God, for hearing my prayer and saving me,” because we can trust Him to keep His Word. He always has. He always will.

“Truly, Truly, I say to you that he who hears My words and believes the One who sent Me has eternal life and will not be condemned. He has crossed from death to life” (John 5:24).

There are no answers and there is no hope in the world by governments, organizations, politics or politicians. There are only lies and deception. But you can have the Truth and the peace you seek.

The answers are in the Word of God—The Bible. If you ask God, with all your heart, He will hear you.

“And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13).
