Magnify the Name of Jesus :: By Dennis Huebshman

Philippians 2:9-11; “Therefore God has highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow, in Heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (ESV – all emphasis is mine).

Hebrews 13:8; “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”

Galatians 6:7-8; “Do not be deceived; God is not mocked; for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption; but the one who sows to the Spirit, will from the Spirit reap eternal life.”

The end-time scenarios given in Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21, as well as 2 Timothy 3, are as if we were reading today’s world headlines. Luke 21:28 is one of my favorite verses: “Now when these things begin to take place, straighten up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing nigh.”

We could safely say that this beginning started about a decade ago.

Joshua 24:15 asks us to make a definite decision: “And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve; whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

There are those who say Jesus never declared that He was part of the Triune Godhead but was just another prophet. However, in John 10:27-30, Jesus states, “My Sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. I gave them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. I and the Father are One!”

John 14:6; “Jesus said to him [Thomas], I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father except through Me.”

Acts 4:12; “And there is Salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under Heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

Many people today are quick to accept what they want to hear from so-called ministers who tweak God’s words to keep seats and collection plates filled. Paul told Timothy in 2 Timothy 4:3-4, “For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth, and wander off into myths.”

There are some observations that I have made over the years that have influenced me as to why I love our Beloved Savior.

He didn’t have to take the form of a human and come to this sin-filled planet, but He did. He even went through a human birth, although His blood was never mixed with Mary’s or Joseph’s. He was the only “human” from the beginning of this earth’s creation to the time of His birth, not to have the sin-nature in His blood due to the fall of mankind in the Garden of Eden.

He knew exactly why He was here, what He would have to endure, and could’ve stopped the process at any moment, but He didn’t.

Matthew 25:52-54; “Then Jesus said to him [Peter], put your sword back into its place. For all who take the sword will perish by the sword. Do you think that I cannot appeal to My Father, and he will at once send Me more than twelve legions of angels? But how then should the Scriptures be fulfilled that it must be so?”

Jesus knew the pain, suffering, and humiliation He was facing, yet He did not stop the process. The one instance that He dreaded more than anything was prophesied in Psalm 22:1, which He quoted while on the cross. It is believed that this was the instant that our beloved Savior took on all the sin of this world, including my sins, past present and future, and the instant that the Father would have to be separated from Him, even if for just a few seconds.

Matthew and Mark recorded that Jesus cried out, “My God! My God! Why have You forsaken Me?” John then records that after this outcry, Jesus stated, “It Is Finished!” and died. This last statement was His testimony that all humans would have a pathway to Him for all eternity if they would just receive and accept Him and the sacrifice He made for us.

When the stone was rolled away on that third day after his death, Jesus came out of the tomb to signify He had conquered sin and death, and there was now the fulfillment of our true pathway for ALL who would choose Him as their Savior.

In Matthew 25:41, Jesus told what the final destination would be for Satan and his demons – fallen angels – and they have no pathway to forgiveness. “Then He will say to those on His left, Depart from Me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.”

Revelation 20:11-16 gives this fate to everyone from the beginning of creation that were not in the will of the Father, and up to Calvary for all those who would take their last breath here without having Jesus as their Savior, which would be to join Satan in the hell fires forever.

For what Jesus has done for me, how could I not “Magnify Him”? In 2018, the Collingsworth Family recorded a song written by Kirk Talley with that title.

1.) I wish that I could write a song that would be known throughout the world. It just might be a love song that would warm the hearts of boys and girls; for you see, poetic lines and perfect rhymes tend to gain the world’s acclaim; but as long as “Love’s Author” lives in me, I will magnify His name.

Ref.) Magnify Him; Magnify Him; lift Him up; bless the name of the Lord. Glorify Him; edify Him; worship Him; praise to the name of the Lord.

2.) I’ll sing of how the lost were found, and how the blind were made to see; and I’ll know what I sing about, for I was lost but He found me. Each day will be a thanksgiving day; my voice to Him I’ll raise. So with every breath my soul pours out, I will give Him all the Praise! (Ref)

Our Heavenly Father wants no one to be cast into eternal punishment (2 Peter 3:9), but He will force no one to receive and accept His Son. All who do will have an eternity that will be wonderful beyond human description. It can’t be bought or earned, but as Ephesians 2:8-9 testifies, it is a gift from the Father for all who have His Son as their Savior.

There will be a judgment for all who are saved, but nowhere near the horrible White Throne Judgment event. In 2 Corinthians 5:10, Paul tells us, “for we must all appear before the Judgment Seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.” We will gain or lose rewards at this Judgment, but everyone there will still spend eternity in Heaven.

The time to decide which eternity you want is now. We don’t know the day or hour or even second that the Rapture will occur. However, considering all that’s taking place around this world today, it is very near. Our Savior is never too busy to accept anyone who truly calls out for Him to be their Savior. Romans 10:9-13 gives the simple steps, and they are not complicated. Just have faith and believe our Savior would love to add you to His flock, if you are not already a part of it. He could be calling us Home any day now to keep the Father’s promise to keep all of the flock out of the coming wrath.

Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!
