For The Very Same Reason :: By Dave Hubley

(There is a special message at the end of this article for those who might happen to read this and do not have Jesus in their life and are looking for peace and a way to understand the present-day insanity and confusion better.)

I believe that there are no “stories” in the Word of God that are not, in reality, lessons or instructions given to us by the Holy Spirit in story form. They were never included as though they were only there for the purpose of entertainment.

The Ten Commandments were written on tablets of stone as recorded in the Book of Exodus (Exodus 20:1-17), and these commands were reiterated in Deuteronomy 5:6-21. As are the more important precepts in God’s Word, the instruction was made in more than one verse or series of verses. Doubly important.

They were written by God’s own Hand (Exodus 31:18, 32:16). Then God allowed them to be broken when Moses hurled the tablets to the ground upon returning from the Mountain and being confronted with the terrible reality of the sins of his people.

The Hebrews had, after just a few days of Moses’ absence, begun reverting to gross debauchery and fabrication of idols before the Law was given to them.

This act of sin-inspired rebellion was enabled by their own temporary leader under pressure from the people.

“So Aaron told them, ‘Take off the gold earrings that are on your wives and sons and daughters, and bring them to me.’ Then all the people took off their gold earrings and brought them to Aaron. He took the gold from their hands, and with an engraving tool, he fashioned it into a molten calf. And they said, “These, O Israel, are your gods, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt!” (Exodus 32:2-4); Emphasis added by me.

Fabrication of these idols was made possible because of weak leadership and because all the people willingly contributed materials to their construction – men, women, sons, and daughters. Just as today, all people contribute to the totality of sin (James 4:17).

So, God warned Moses of the sin of his people and sent him, along with the Tablets of Testimony, to see for himself.

“How quickly they have turned aside from the way that I commanded them!” (Exodus 32:8)

“As Moses approached the camp and saw the calf and the dancing, he burned with anger and threw the tablets out of his hands, shattering them at the base of the mountain” (Exodus 32:19).

I believe this historical record is a strong message to mankind by the Lord God, that His allowing of the first tablets to be broken illustrated that His Laws would be broken by fallen man after they were made known, just as they were being broken before they were made known. It was almost a prophecy. The nature of man in 2025 remains the same.

In a further indictment of the evil nature of humankind, Aaron, when confronted by Moses, blatantly lied about the origins of the idols they had bowed down to.

“So I said to them, ‘Whoever has gold, let him take it off,’ and they gave it to me. And when I threw it into the fire, out came this calf!” (Exodus 32:24)

It is an accurate illustration of the evil that would, and does, continue to fester over the entire course of human history by God’s prophet, Jeremiah.

“The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? (Jeremiah 17:9)

God’s Commandments continue to be broken by people every second, from the greatest of us to the least of us: Unrelenting, ever-growing like a cancer.

It must be pointed out that what the Hebrews did is only a projection of what every other kindred, tribe, and nation would have done, and in fact always have done, throughout the entire history of humankind.

In this section of the Biblical record of the Exodus, proof is provided in advance of Jeremiah’s prophecy, given under inspiration of the Holy Spirit 2,100+/- years later.

But there is an additional lesson that God has included in this record as a message to the world.

“Then the LORD said to Moses, ‘Chisel out two stone tablets like the originals, and I will write on them the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke’” (Exodus 34:1). Emphasis added by me.

Despite the lies, obfuscations, sin, rebellion, and even the destruction of the Tablets of Testimony, God would extend His mercy and keep His promise (as He always has). The Tablets were restored; the plumb-line of the Law, the ordinances, and the precepts of God could not be negated, cancelled, or changed because of any actions of man.

“Yes, and from ancient days I am he. No one can deliver out of my hand. When I act, who can reverse it?” (Isaiah 43:13)

During the first advent of the promised Messiah, it was reiterated by Jesus Himself:

“For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled” (Matthew 5:18).

God would not permit the Law to be negated, changed, or broken without consequences. It would stand until the advent of His Son, Jesus Christ, who would pay the death penalty for anyone who would repent and confess that they were a lawbreaker, believe in Him, and receive Him only as their Savior. It is so simple.

The requirements of the Law would be replaced by the selfless sacrifice of God’s Promised Messiah for those who would trust in Him, Jew or Gentile.

Those who reject God’s Salvation in Jesus and to this day still refuse Him would still be held accountable under the Law. It is a debt no one can pay, as all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God (Romans 3:23).

In the Words of the Lord Jesus Himself:

“I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am He, you will indeed die in your sins(John 8:24). Emphasis added by me.

The reality of this consequence and the conclusion of it are brought to a terrible reality by God in His Word so that no one can say that they were not aware.

Judgment before the Great White Throne

And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne. And books were opened, and one of them was the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their deeds, as recorded in the books. The sea gave up its dead, and Death and Hades gave up their dead, and each one was judged according to his deeds. Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death—the lake of fire.  And if anyone was found whose name was not written in the Book of Life, he was thrown into the lake of fire” (Revelation 20:12-15).

Now to the crux of this message.

The promise of God’s Eternal Kingdom is written in the solid stone of God’s Word (Revelation CH’s 21 and 22).

Within Chapter 21, as well as elsewhere in God’s Word (Galatians 5:19-21, 1 Corinthians 6:9-11), is contained the reason why no sin of any kind can be allowed to enter into the place of God’s rest, His Eternal Kingdom.

And it is why, prior to the Sacrifice of Jesus, the Lamb of God, the curtain in God’s Temple prevented even a glimpse of the Most Holy Place. Where God is present, sin cannot be present. His Holiness and Perfect Righteousness will not permit it.

That is why anyone who is not covered by the shed blood of Christ cannot enter in.

He has also made it clear that He has given free will to every person to accept or reject His Grace and Mercy in His Son by His own Authority.

God has proven that He has provided, by His own death, burial, and resurrection, the Way He has established as the path to eternal life in His Eternal Kingdom.

“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6).

It is for this very same reason.

If God were to allow even a scintilla of sin to enter eternity, it would result in the exact same degradation of everything Holy, as has always occurred with humankind.

I believe that this is one of the reasons why God elected to decree the Millennial dispensation. (Revelation 20:1-3). It will be proof positive that the sin nature of man cannot be overcome by man alone, even if the utopia that secular humans claim would enable all people to live in perfect harmony could be achieved. It must be purged by the Lord Himself, and He will do it.

“And we know that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose. For those God foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brothers. And those He predestined, He also called; those He called, He also justified; those He justified, He also glorified(Romans 8:28-30). Emphasis added by me.

Glorification: The final step of God’s Blessing to those who love Him – even the removal of our sin nature prior to an eternity of dwelling in His House with all the Saints of all the ages.

“As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us” (Psalm 103:12).

Patience, my sisters and brothers. I believe that we are almost there.

Maranatha! Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

The special message I promised you:

For anyone who may read this article and has not trusted in Jesus Christ and therefore has no hope or peace in your life.

You can have hope. You can have the peace that Jesus has promised to all who have made Him their Lord and Savior. The peace that passes understanding.

It requires that you come before God on His terms and that you do so in your living years.

And what are His terms according to His Word?

  • Genuine repentance (turning to God instead of continuing to reject or ignore Him).
  • Confession of sins (that you are a sinner and acknowledge that to God).
  • That you understand that the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23).
  • To acknowledge to God that you are unable to pay that debt.
  • Belief that Jesus Christ paid your death sentence for you on the cross and rose from the grave three days later, conquering death, just as He promised.
  • To believe that Jesus is the Way, the only Way, that God has established by which humans may be saved from the consequences of their sin and rebellion.

God has made it absolutely clear that there is no one who comes before Him, under His terms, that will be refused.

  • No one: no race, no color, no country of origin, regardless of any previous belief system: no one.
  • No matter what your past sins have been, God can and WILL forgive you because He says He will.
  • Salvation is available to everyone without any exceptions.

If you put all your trust for salvation in Jesus, and Him only, you can follow that prayer up by simply saying “Thank you, Father God, for hearing my prayer and saving me,” because we can trust Him to keep His Word. He always has. He always will.

“Truly, Truly, I say to you that he who hears My words and believes the One who sent Me has eternal life and will not be condemned. He has crossed from death to life” (John 5:24).

There are no answers and there is no hope in the world by governments, organizations, politics or politicians. There are only lies and deception. But you can have the Truth and the peace you seek.

The answers are in the Word of God—The Bible. If you ask God, with all your heart, He will hear you.

“And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13).
