Facing The New Year :: By Nathele Graham

The world keeps turning, and time keeps passing. Once again, we are facing a new year. I can honestly say that I’m surprised that the Rapture hasn’t happened yet. All things happen according to God’s timing, and His prophecy will be fulfilled. We cannot know the exact timing of all that’s waiting to be fulfilled, but we can be sure that it will all happen. Could some major prophetic events happen in 2025? Absolutely.

There have been some amazing things that happened in 2024 that seem to be setting the stage for more events to be fulfilled. I am fascinated by Biblical prophecy, but let me say that I’m not an expert. I watch, study, and speculate, but there are many very excellent prophecy teachers who are worth listening to.

The events of October 7, 2023, set in motion a domino effect of events that have rocked the world. It’s no surprise that Israel should be in the prophetic eye. The Muslim world is under the mistaken opinion that they have rights to the possession of Jerusalem. Jerusalem belongs to Israel, given to them by God Himself. The lack of peace in the Middle East is a result of this dispute. It’s somewhat like the battle between David and Goliath. God was with David, just as He is with Israel. Goliath should have given up, as should the Muslim world. Scripture is clear that this dispute is to be expected, and the whole world will be troubled.

The burden of the word of the LORD for Israel, saith the LORD, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him. Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem(Zechariah 12:1-2a).

If you’ve paid attention to the recent events in Israel and the surrounding nations, you will see this “cup of trembling” in the war that has engulfed Israel and her neighbors. God will not allow Israel to be uprooted from their land.

As I watch the victories Israel has had over the enemy, I can only see God’s supernatural hand leading Israel in the fight. I pray for the leaders in Israel to not take pride in their victories but to systematically follow God’s leading and continue to be protected by Him. As the enemies fall, one by one, I can see other prophecies soon to be fulfilled.

The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap (Isaiah 17:1).

It’s an interesting truth that the word “Hamas” is a Hebrew word that is defined as “violence, wrong, cruelty, and injustice.” I do believe that the hard-fought victories Israel has won will ultimately lead to a false sense of peace.

For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape(1 Thessalonians 5:2-3).

Will this peace come with the defeat of their neighbors who hate them? Will it come in 2025? Only God knows the hour, but many prophecies seem to be coming together quickly.

It also seems as if the players in the Ezekiel 38 war are being set in place. “And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him, And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal(Ezekiel 38:1-3).

There have been various interpretations as to the identity of Gog and Magog, but many scholars believe this refers to Russia. It could very well be that the war in Ukraine will open the way for Russia to ease into war with Israel. Iran and Russia seem to have a mutual “need” to destroy Israel. Russia does have many alliances in the Middle East. Syria, for instance. The evil Assad regime in Syria was recently defeated, and Assad fled to Russia. It actually seems as if the entire world is against Israel. Gog will eventually come against Israel.

And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled Villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates(Ezekiel 38:11).

It may soon come to pass that Israel will feel very safe and secure as if there’s no threat to their peace and safety.

It seems as if prophecy is well on its way to fulfillment. Is this all making way for the so-called Anti-Christ? It certainly looks that way. In Daniel chapter 8, we read about a very strong and fierce ruler that will rise.

And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up. And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people(Daniel 8:23-24).

This is one of those dual fulfillment prophecies. The “near” fulfillment was by Antiochus, a very evil and wicked man. The far fulfillment will be seen in the Anti-Christ. His power will come from Satan. He will be very deceptive.

And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand(Daniel 8:25).

He will be deceitful and usher in a false peace. “And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate(Daniel 9:27).

This evil ruler will enforce a covenant for seven years (one week of years). What covenant? One that will bring peace. Also, somehow, the Jewish temple will be allowed to be rebuilt. I’m very interested in the red heifers, which are required to cleanse the Temple. Halfway through the seven years, the Anti-Christ will show his true colors. He will stop the sacrifice and oblation and defile the Temple. Evil, pure evil. His evil reign will cover all the world. As I see Artificial Intelligence becoming more and more a part of society and hear of chip implants being talked about more and more, I can only think that we are being set up for the Mark of the beast.

In Revelation 6, we read about the Lamb (Jesus) opening the seals and the Horsemen of the Apocalypse riding out to spread destruction and evil on the entire world. The first rider is the Anti-Christ.

I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer(Revelation 6:2).

This rider doesn’t bring peace, and the crown he is given is a stephanos, which is not a crown of a king. There are many people who seem to have a plan for peace in the Middle East. It will happen, but it will be a false peace. True peace will only come when the Jewish people as a nation recognize Jesus Christ as the Messiah and call on Him. Following the rise of the Anti-Christ, there will be a reign of terror. God’s wrath will be poured out, and all pretense of peace and safety will disappear. The blessing for all Christians is that we won’t be here to suffer God’s wrath. The Rapture will happen first. John was given the Revelation and he saw the Rapture happen prior to the opening of the seals.

After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter. And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne(Revelation 4:1-2).

What follows is a description of what we will see when we get to Heaven. It isn’t until chapter 6 and the opening of the seals that we see the evil happenings on Earth. Christians are saved by faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He suffered and died for our salvation so we won’t face God’s wrath.

For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ(1 Thessalonians 5:9).

Be sure you have truly given your life to Christ, and repent of your sins.

Will all of this happen in 2025? It could. Prophecy seems to be moving forward very quickly. I hope it does. Do your own study and come to your own conclusions. No matter what, don’t delay in accepting God’s free gift of salvation. Even if the Rapture doesn’t happen this year, it will happen. The scenario I’ve laid out may take many years to fulfill. Don’t deceive yourself; we are all mortal, and many will die prior to the Rapture. Don’t take chances with eternity. Accept Christ today.

Don’t face the New Year without Jesus.

God bless you all
