The Atlantic Hurricane season is still underway, but now experts believe that a powerful tropical system is brewing in the Atlantic Ocean and could be a major threat to lives and property in the US. Meteorologists have warned that there is a tropical wave which may develop into a named storm between October 21 and 25.
Widespread flooding continues across Nigeria as death toll rises to 238
Heavy rainfall during Nigeria’s 2025 summer rainy season has affected 27 of the country’s 36 states, causing severe floods and river overflows that left at least 238 people dead and 826 injured. According to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the European Commission’s Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO), more than 135,000 people have been displaced and about 400,000 in total affected. The worst-hit states are Lagos, Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Imo, Taraba, and Rivers, where over 47,000 houses and 60,000 ha (148,000 acres) of farmland have been destroyed or damaged.

FBI arrests alleged pro-Hamas Oct. 7 attacker living in Louisiana
The FBI has arrested a Palestinian national living in Louisiana who allegedly took part in Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023, attack on Israel. Mahmoud Amin Ya-qub Al-Muhtadi, a resident of Lafayette, Louisiana, is accused of violating terrorism laws by helping or attempting to help a foreign terrorist organization through his alleged involvement in the Hamas-led attack on Israel, according to an affidavit. He is also accused of fraud and misuse of visas, permits, and other documents.
