Below, I have shared with RR readers a poem written anonymously some years ago. I hope you will consider sending it along to some grieving Christian you may know who is spending their first Christmas without a loved one. It may make this holiday a bit brighter and more bearable for them.
If you yourself are one of those people, remember that Jesus wept at Lazarus’s grave. He is touched with a feeling for our infirmities. Psalm 56:8 is a sweet reminder of this:
“You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle.
You have recorded each one in your book” (Psalm 56:8).
Death is indeed a work of Satan, but again, we can gain the victory when we recall that Jesus came to “destroy the works of the devil.” Lastly, always be encouraged in the knowledge that our glorious Savior is returning very soon to take us all up to where He (and your loved one/s) are eagerly waiting to greet you! So,
“look up, for your redemption draweth nigh”! (Luke 21:28).
First Christmas in Heaven
My very first Christmas in Heaven was a glorious, wonderful day!
I was standing with saints of all ages who found Christ, the truth, and the way
I was singing with the heavenly choir, I, who so loved to sing,
And, oh what celestial music we brought to our Savior and King!
I sang the glad song of redemption, how Jesus to Bethlehem came,
And why they called His name Jesus, that all may be saved through His Name!
Oh, loved one, I wish you could be here, no Christmas on earth can compare,
with all of the rapture in glory, I witnessed in Heaven so fair!
You know how I always loved Christmas, it seemed such a wonderful day,
With all of my loved ones around me, we were happy in every way.
Yet, now I can see why I loved it, and, oh what a joy it will be,
When all of my loved ones are with me, to share all the glories I see!
So, dear ones on earth, I send greetings, look up till His dawning appears,
And, oh what a Christmas awaits us, beyond all our partings and tears!

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses
to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down,
especially the sin that so easily trips us up.
And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us”
(Hebrews 12:1).
