Much of Houston remained without power in Tropical Storm Beryl’s wake, and authorities warned the blackout could last days even as heat builds across the battered region.

Hurricane “Beryl” leaves 12 people dead in the United States, 16 across the Caribbean 
At least 12 people have been killed, and millions were left without power in the United States after Category 1 Hurricane “Beryl” made landfall near Matagorda in Texas on July 8. This brought the total death toll caused by the system to 28 as of July 10.

South Korea hit by most intense downpour in 200 years 
Extremely heavy rains hit South Korea on July 9 and 10, claiming 4 lives and forcing thousands to evacuate for safety. The rains caused multiple flights and trains to be delayed and caused severe damage to infrastructure all over South Korea.

Record rains hit Nepal’s Kanchanpur 
Kanchanpur district in Nepal experienced severe flooding after record-breaking rains on July 8. This was the heaviest rainfall for the region in the past 78 years, with some regions crossing the 600 mm (23.62 inch) mark. The flooding caused 4 deaths, and 1 person was reported missing.
